Egyptian gilded calcite carapace of a turtle, pierced to be sewed on a mummy, Ptolemaic Period, ca. 332-30 BC.


Product Description

Calcite carapace of a turtle, covered with a sheet of gold. Multiply pierced to be sewed in the mummification process - very rare! Probably 3rd century BC.

Condition Report

Chips in the gold sheet as shown. Some wear also. Otherwise very fine and stable.
